Stefano Addeo, a teacher at the "Medi" high school in Cicciano, has been placed on precautionary suspension by the director general of the Regional School Office for Campania, following the publication of threatening remarks directed at Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's daughter on his Facebook page. The provision, which is applicable until the end of the disciplinary processes, was driven by the necessity to "protect the serenity of the school community" in accordance with current regulations. On Monday afternoon, the 65-year-old teacher attempted suicide by consuming a combination of psychiatric medications. He was saved by the carabinieri and the 118 health workers, notified by the school’s principal after a phone call from the teacher himself in which he expressed suicidal intentions. From his hospital bed, Addeo justified his gesture: "I couldn't tolerate the media's rage against me. I made a mistake, but I’ve been lynched. I apologized, but I couldn’t take it anymore".
