Two young hikers from Padua, both 18 years old, were rescued after being stranded on Monte Schiara in the Belluno Dolomites at an altitude of 2,262 meters. On Monday, June 2, a sudden heavy snowfall made it difficult to continue their hike or even return to the valley, prompting the young men to phone 118 at 9:15 a.m. The Mountain Rescue responded with a helicopter that took off from Pieve di Cadore, but bad weather precluded a direct rescue. Rescuers were dropped off at Forcella Nerville and began their climb; however, some hikers who were equipped with the necessary equipment had already reached the boys, assisting them in their secure descent. Due to a lack of insurance to cover rescue costs, the two young individuals will now be responsible for them. The total amount? Exorbitant, given that helicopter flights cost around 90 euros per minute.
