On June 2nd, in Hell’s Kitchen Park, in the heart of Manhattan, “Botanic Pulse” came to life — a monumental 200-square-meter work by Fabio Petani, one of the most renowned Italian artists in the field of street art and research murals. It is the first US intervention of the international program Walls of Tomorrow, promoted on a global scale by the Italian non-profit Yourban 2030, founded by the entrepreneur Veronica De Angelis. Created using photocatalytic paint capable of reducing air pollution, the work represents one of the globally recognized Made in Italy best practices: that of Yourban 2030, which—since 2018 and from Italy to Europe to the United States—has been promoting sustainability through creativity and concrete action, and that of Airlite, one of the four technologies identified by the United Nations to combat urban pollution. "Botanic Pulse" is the visual interpretation of Goal 15 of the 2030 Agenda, "Life on Land", and uses Fabio Petani's signature visual poetry to emphasize how critical it is to preserve terrestrial ecosystems and biodiversity. In the center of the piece, a vase: fragile, human, a symbol of our will to protect but also our desire for control.
