Leonardo is set to sign a new deal with Indonesia's Ministry of Defense. On the table, according to Yusran Lubis, head of the ministry’s defence equipment division, is a $240 million order for six AW189 helicopters by Leonardo. The agreement, which will be signed next week on the margins of the Indo Defense Expo & Forum, includes four VVIP helicopters and two VIP units, and will involve Indonesia’s PT Dirgantara. Deliveries are scheduled between December 2026 and April 2027. Leonardo recently announced in Dallas that it has received new orders for approximately 30 helicopters of various models from operators in Europe, the Americas, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region, primarily for energy industry support, rescue and utility tasks, and VIP transport. In addition, Leonardo announced the expansion into new markets, with a particular focus on the energy industry and rescue missions, using the AW169 and AW189 models. The company will also provide the most advanced simulation technologies for pilot training, such as the VxR virtual reality simulators.
