Quorum is very far away for the citizenship and labor referendums. Despite the possibility of voting even today until 3 p.m., reaching the “validity” threshold of 50 percent appears almost impossible: as of 11 p.m. yesterday, in fact, turnout was 22.73 percent. In 2011, when voting took place over two days, 41.1 percent of eligible voters had voted at the same time for the referendum against water privatization, which eventually reached a quorum. The region with the highest percentage of voters at the time was Tuscany (29.99 percent), while the region with the lowest percentage was Trentino Alto Adige (16.13 percent). Premier Giorgia Meloni went to the polling station yesterday afternoon but, as she had announced in recent days, did not pick up the ballots.
