Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini write another page of Italian tennis history, winning the women's doubles title at Roland Garros. Less than a year after their Olympic triumph, the two Italian women impose themselves once again on Parisian clay, giving Italy an extraordinary success in its second Slam of the season. On the legendary Court Philippe-Chatrier, the number two seed overcame Kazakhstan's Anna Danilina and Serbia's Aleksandra Krunic in the final with a score of 6-4, 2-6, 6-1, after more than two hours of battle. After a swinging first set, won with a decisive break in the tenth game, Errani and Paolini suffered the comeback of their opponents in the second fraction. In the third set, however, the Azzurri pair showed all their strength and determination, dominating from the first to the last point. Their run was impeccable: five straight wins before the final, including victories over top-ranked pairs such as Mertens/Kudermetova and Haddad Maia/Siegemund. The Italian pair thus becomes only the second all-Italian to win Roland Garros in women's doubles, after the 2012 success signed by Errani herself along with Roberta Vinci. For Paolini it is the first title in a Slam, a consecration after three lost finals. For Errani, on the other hand, it is the eighth major title in her career, the second in a few days after her victory in mixed doubles with Andrea Vavassori. The triumph in Paris also comes after the recent victory at the Internazionali d'Italia, confirming a magical season for the Italian duo.
