On the eve of the International Day Against Child Labor, Save the Children raises the alarm: in Italy there are 336 thousand children between the ages of 7 and 15 involved in forms of labor, often hidden, that put their education and well-being at risk. According to the “It's not a game” report, nearly 1 in 15 children has worked at least once. Among 14- to 15-year-olds, the percentage rises: 1 in 5 has had work experience, and nearly 60,000 teens have been engaged in activities considered harmful, such as night work or continuous work during the school year. The sectors most involved are food service (26%), trade (16%), agriculture and construction sites, but new forms of online work are also emerging. The phenomenon severely affects schools, increasing the risk of dropout and feeding a cycle of precarity and inequality.
