A German tourist received a fine of 600 euros in Forte dei Marmi for purchasing a counterfeit bag. The woman was identified by the municipal police - engaged in routine patrols - as she purchased a straw bag with the Yves Saint Laurent logo for 50 euros. The agents, upon observing the article's evident irregularities in the quality and details, hypothesized that the product was counterfeit and it was subjected to criminal seizure. The buyer received a 600-euro administrative fee, as is required by law even for people who purchase counterfeit items. Taking advantage of the confusion of the moment, the seller was able to flee. "We reiterate the importance of not buying counterfeit goods", said Massimo Lucchesi, a councilor for the municipal police, "because, in addition to being punished by law, with heavy fines even for those who buy, it feeds an illegal supply chain in which there are no controls on the quality and safety of products and where illegal work and labor exploitation are frequently hidden. I reaffirm my request to inhabitants and tourists to only use authorized sales channels, therefore, helping to maintain our community's legality and decorum".
