In Italy, almost 2 out of 10 hacker attacks hit the world of publishing and information. Next among the favorite victims of cyber criminals are manufacturing (at 15.7% an incidence double that of the world figure) and entities that perform government, military or law enforcement functions (15.4%). This is the picture taken by Maticmind's report “Attacks, Damage, Impacts and Risks in 2024-25”. Of particular note is the large retail sector: it ranks ninth in terms of casualties (3.9%), slightly below the global average (4.2%), but with a significant upward trend. In fact, cybersecurity investments in Italy are estimated to grow by 8.9% during 2025 (reaching 2.2 billion euros). The priority is to protect customer data, and 42% of invested resources are allocated to this.
