In Europe there is now open competition among the big national rail groups, and Italian trains are winning the race. As of yesterday, Paris and Marseille are connected by eight Frecciarossa trains a day. The new service, operated by Ferrovie Italiane, expands the high-speed network in France, which is already active on the Paris-Lyon and Paris-Milan routes. The high-speed connection between Paris Gare de Lyon and Marseille Saint-Charles will take about 3 hours and 20 minutes, with stops in Lyon Saint-Exupéry, Avignon and Aix-en-Provence. Departures from Paris are scheduled between 5:54 a.m. and 7:03 p.m., and from Marseille between 6:52 a.m. and 6:49 p.m. The new Paris-Marseille connection further expands the Frecciarossa network in France. The next appointment is for January 2026, when Frecciarossa trains will connect Italy with Munich, with extensions planned to Berlin from December 2028.
