Tension at Salernitana following the away match in Genoa for the first leg of the Serie B play-out against Sampdoria, which ended in a 2-0 defeat. Upon their return from Liguria, sixteen members of the Granata club—eight players and eight staff members—were hospitalized for symptoms of suspected food poisoning. The group had taken a charter flight to Salerno-Costa d'Amalfi airport, but some passengers began to experience stomach issues during the journey. Once landed, the situation required the dispatch of numerous ambulances, which transported the people involved to local hospitals. According to preliminary findings, the poisoning could be linked to a rice-based packed lunch had by the players in Genoa prior to the match. Investigators have already been notified of the matter, and inquiries are being conducted by health and police authorities, to whom the initial testimonies have been made. Fortunately, the majority of the members were discharged between the night and the morning, but the incident had an immediate impact on the team's schedule: the training session scheduled for today was cancelled. In light of the event, the team is considering requesting a postponement of the return match against Sampdoria, which is set for Friday evening at the Arechi stadium in Salerno.
