The mother of a 14-year-old boy was fined 50 euros after the Municipal Police found him using a swing meant for younger kids in the Pertini park in Miramare in an unsafe manner. The incident occurred on March 28, but the story has only recently surfaced, after the woman received the fine and chose to make it public. According to local press sources, the 34-year-old mom followed her kid to the park before training and saw him swinging energetically. "He had tipped the swing over and started swinging. When I saw the police arrive, I told him to stop and put everything back in place, which he did right away", she explained. However, the behaviour was already risky to the officers, as the boy was rotating the seat on the swing pole and then using it with force, putting other children at risk. The mother attempted to justify her kid, insisting that he had done nothing wrong and that if there was any damage, she would pay for it. The officers said her response seemed hostile. After a brief heated exchange - during which the woman said she wanted to call her husband, a policeman - the situation calmed down. However, the fine arrived a few days later. The officers said that the legislation specifies that games designed for small children are only available to individuals under the age of 12. "The boy was older, and he was using the game in an inappropriate and potentially dangerous manner", authorities stated. The mother, on the other hand, does not rule out appealing: "I find it outrageous that such severe rules are in place while drug dealers and criminals are present near Metromare stations. I'd like to speak with the commander for clarity". The event has sparked mixed views on social media, with some defending the police intervention for the safety of the children and others believing it was excessive.
