The government is working to define a new long-term development strategy capable of enhancing the excellence of Made in Italy while focusing on innovative sectors such as digital, defense, pharmaceuticals, space economy and sea economy. This was stated by PM Giorgia Meloni in a message sent to the AWS Summit in Milan 2025, an event dedicated to cloud computing and digital innovation. “We want to build an Italy that is increasingly attractive to companies and investors, capable of generating employment and well-being,” Meloni said, relaunching the slogan “Make in Italy” as a key message for Europe and the world. In this direction, the government has adopted simplification measures to encourage large foreign investments, as in the case of Amazon Web Services, which chose to invest 1.2 billion euros to build two data centers in Lombardy. The project was recognized as being of strategic interest by the Council of Ministers. “Amazon's decision,” concluded the PM, "is confirmation that Italy is once again an attractive country. We want to continue to be the home of genius and innovation, honoring our identity with an ambitious and forward-looking development policy”.
