Emanuele Amodei, president of the Institute for Art and Restoration of Florence "Palazzo Spinelli," has been appointed deputy secretary general of IASDA (International Alliance for Sustainable Development of Arts) at the United Nations. IASDA is a network of entities centered at the United Nations Headquarters in New York that promotes the growth of the arts based on the ideals of openness, inclusion, innovation, and cooperation, thereby implementing the United Nations' "sustainable development goals". The initiative involves operational meetings in Paris, Beijing, Mexico City, and Florence, which will thus play a significant role in the protection and enhancement of the world’s cultural heritage. On June 26, Amodei will deliver a speech at the United Nations addressing the significance of restoration as a strategic asset for the advancement of humanity. In response to the news, he pointed out, "My responsibilities will include the coordination of the activities of the member institutes and the development of global initiatives to elevate the conservation and restoration sector, which places Florence and Palazzo Spinelli at the epicenter of a movement of unparalleled strategic and human significance for the next generation and for the awareness of our global cultural heritage". In addition to the Palazzo Spinelli Institute, IASDA includes the Academy of Art and Design of Tsinghua University (China), China Global Ballet (China), Sotheby’s Institute of Art (USA), The Royal Artistic Circle of Barcelona (Spain), Cultural Heritage Preservation Association (Mexico), Maison des Artistes (France), and the China Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting Association (China).
