According to the Eurispes 2025 report, 65.6% of Italians search for health information online, using Google to understand symptoms (61.9%), adopt best practices (52.8%), identify medications (34.2%) and determine necessary exams (35.2%). But there is a new element: according to research by the Milan Polytechnic's Digital Health Observatory, 31% of Italian citizens have used GenAI tools (up 9% from last year). The most searched topics concern health problems (47%) and drugs and therapies (39%). Among the main reasons for using such tools, citizens report speed of information retrieval (50 percent) and ease of use (44%). Even among nonusers, interest is significant: 40% say they are willing to use AI-based chatbots to find out about common diseases, 28% about prevention and lifestyles, and about a quarter about therapies, diagnoses, and healthcare facilities.
