The Italian cinema mourns Alvaro Vitali, the unforgettable comic and irreverent Pierino of the sexy comedies of the 1970s and 1980s: The School Teacher, La liceale (The Teasers), La dottoressa sotto il lenzuolo (The Lady Doctor Under the Sheet), A Policewoman on the Porno Squad, L'onorevole con l'amante sotto al letto (The honorable with his lover under the bed) and many others, for a total of 150 films in which between eros and laughter there was also room for the masters. Discovered by Federico Fellini, the actor had also worked with Steno, Roman Polanski, Mario Monicelli, Dino Risi, and Alberto Sordi. Vitali, who was 75 years old and in extremely frail health, was carried off by bronchopneumonia for which he had been hospitalized two weeks ago. He was not only a comedian but the symbol of an era, the hero of the naughty and lighthearted cinema that focused on female doctors, nurses, high school girls, policewomen and kept the industry on its feet by putting beautiful women like Gloria Guida, Edwige Fenech and Nadia Cassini in the shower. Forgotten by show business, three months ago Vitali was back on the set thanks to Carlo Verdone, who gave him a small role in the fourth season of the series Vita da Carlo expected this fall on Paramount+.
