Ferrari sets sail. Following its success on the track, the Prancing Horse is venturing into the open sea with Hypersail, an ambitious project that marks the Maranello company's debut in the world of ocean sailing. The news coincided with the presentation of a groundbreaking prototype: a 100-foot flying monohull that is presently being built in Italy, set to launch in 2026. Giovanni Soldini, a well-known figure in Italian sailing and Hypersail Team Principal, is in charge of the project. He leads an exceptional team that blends Ferrari's engineering skills with that of some of the top international nautical designers. The boat was designed by renowned naval architect Guillaume Verdier, who devised a structure capable of flying on the water thanks to three novel support points, including a tilting keel that acts as a foil. Hypersail’s objective is not only sporting but also technological. The project's goal is to establish an advanced research and development platform capable of producing solutions for both the maritime and automotive industries. In particular, the boat will be the first of its kind to be totally self-sufficient in terms of energy. The launch is scheduled in about two years, but the course is already charted: Ferrari Hypersail is a potential candidate to revolutionize the concept of ocean navigation.
