With summer just around the corner and temperatures set to rise, it is time to think about holidays. But this year, between high prices and a drop in purchasing power, almost 1 Italian in 5 Italians (18%) has decided to forgo the trip, according to data from the Findomestic Observatory. Those who will leave, will do so with moderation: 43% of families will only allow themselves a week's holiday, 27% will limit their holidays to a few weekends, while only 8% will be able to afford a stay of more than two weeks. The destinations? Mainly Italian: 80% of holidaymakers will stay in the country, including the sea, cultural villages and nature. For those staying in the city, on the other hand, the main reasons are reduced income (39%), unexpected expenses (21%) and rising prices (21%). The average holiday expenditure thus drops to €1,594 per family, compared to €1,785 last year.
