Italian television stations will no longer be able to censor footage of public disturbances and protests in sporting venues during soccer and basketball games. This is established by a resolution of the Communications Regulatory Authority that was adopted in defense of the right to report. The provision delineates the request methods and the categories of images that must be made available to accredited communication operators. Operators will be able to request such photographs within one hour of the event ending. These methodologies will be implemented for the professional divisions of Serie A and Serie B beginning with the 2025/2026 sports season. The issue emerged in November of last year, following a protest by Roma fans after Daniele de Rossi was dismissed as coach. During the Roma-Udinese match, fans from the team's south stand entered the field 30 minutes after the game began, but the photographs were not displayed to viewers, a situation that should never happen again.
