In Tassullo, province of Trento, precisely 100 meters down, among the tunnels of a mine, is rising Intacture, the first datacenter in Europe that will not use a single drop of water to cool the servers, thanks to the natural coolness of a place that enjoys a constant temperature between 10 and 12 degrees, and an efficient refrigeration system. It is also the first data center in a mine that is still in operation: in Norway, the Lefdal Mine Datacenter has been operating in a closed mine for several years, and uses frozen water from the fjord to cool the hardware. Intacture will be powered by 100% renewable energy thanks to the Italian mountains, which represent a pioneer in hydroelectricity, with an energy efficiency index of less than 1.25 (compared to an average of 1.6 for European data centers). It will also have minimal impact with respect to land consumption: only the offices will be outside, while the facilities will be underground, accessible by a 14-story elevator.
