The Rio Frejus overflowed in the center of Bardonecchia (Turin), causing serious traffic disruption and rendering several city roads impassable. The Municipality has issued a maximum alert nearly two years after the terrible flood of August 2023. "Avoid any travel, do not leave your home, and do not use your car", Mayor Chiara Rossetti said, urging the public to strictly adhere to local authorities' orders and avoid approaching the bridges. Meanwhile, multiple footage on social media shows the dark water of the torrent infiltrating the center's streets. The flooding also impacted the A32 Turin-Bardonecchia highway, with the exit for the tourist destination closed in both directions. The flood wave also affected the Dora River, which flooded downstream from the town, causing traffic delays on state road 335. The emergency was prompted by heavy storms that slammed the upper Val di Susa in the prior hours, resulting in a quick rise in watercourse levels.
