Italy is still experiencing intense temperatures. Discomfort also for the motorway network, as the entrances to the Verona Sud and Verona Est toll gates of the A4 were closed this morning following new asphalt failures. Vehicles in transit are recommended to rejoin the freeway at the Sommacampagna toll gate. The issue occurred in the stretch between Verona South and the junction for the A22 Brenner Motorway, in the direction of Milan. The first lane collapsed, resulting in the formation of so-called "rutting," minor longitudinal deformations that were induced by the high temperatures of recent days. The stretch had recently been resurfaced, but the harsh weather conditions necessitated another urgent intervention. The issue was reported by the 24/7 monitoring systems installed by the A4 motorway operator.
