In Milan, two paintings of Mao Tse Tung by Andy Warhol, which were donated by banker Mario D'Urso to Fausto Bertinotti, former secretary of the Communist Refoundation Party, were sold at auction. The first silkscreen sold for €106,000, the second for €80,000. The estimated value was between €20,000 and €30,000, so the auction went very well for the seller. According to La Repubblica, re-launching around the two silkscreens was a genuine struggle, with the auctioneer juggling offers in person, over the phone, and across platforms. These are not the only works from Bertinotti's collection that have been sold. Among them are a Piero Dorazio for 5,500 euros, a gift for 32 years of marriage, and another for 1,900 euros. Then there was Mario Ceroli's bronze horse, which went for 2,800 euros, and Luca Maria Patella's vase, which sold for 2,000 euros. A 1981 canvas by Mario Schifano fetched €15,000; and Camion (1976) by Titina Maselli, sister of director Citto Maselli, sold for €9,000. Bertinotti earned 250 thousand euros for the entire lot.
