Elisabetta Belloni, the former director general of the DIS and current coordinator of the Italian secret services, is resigning from her position as principal diplomatic adviser in the cabinet of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. The Commission's spokesperson confirmed this: "We can confirm that Elisabetta Belloni is resigning from the cabinet". Belloni joined the president's administration in January, with a high-profile position in Brussels. There was no formal explanation for why she left. When questioned if the decision was related to disagreements with cabinet chairman Bjoern Seibert, Commission spokesperson for budget and personnel, Balazs Ujvari, responded with a terse “no comment,” adding that he had no detailed information on the matter.
