Tense moments Sunday evening at the Roman residence of fashion designer Valentino Garavani, near the Appia Antica. Two thieves attempted to break into the villa, but were put to flight by the prompt reaction of the private guard. According to the reconstruction, the thieves arrived in a car and broke into the estate's garden after forcing a fence. They were noticed by the vigilante on duty, who approached them and fired a gun in the air for intimidation purposes, thus managing to drive them away before they could pull off the heist. Inside the villa at the time of the break-in were the designer and a few people including guests and servants. The gunshot generated moments of fear: everyone went outside to figure out what had happened, meeting the vigilante who explained what had happened. Immediate call was made to law enforcement, which arrived on the scene a few minutes later. Surveillance cameras captured the entire scene: the two suspects can be seen parking near the entrance to the villa and crossing the fence. The images are now being examined by investigators.
