A 58-year-old agricultural entrepreneur has been arrested in Caserta on serious allegations ranging from aggravated and persistent theft of public water to causing harm to UNESCO-protected cultural heritage. The investigation, which was overseen by the Santa Capua Vetere Public Prosecutor's Office, began to shed light on the sudden and unusual decrease in water flow to the historic pools and fountains in the gardens of the Royal Palace of Caserta. The investigations revealed an unauthorized withdrawal from the Carolino aqueduct, a feat of Bourbon engineering that supplies the royal gardens. According to the findings, the water theft might have had catastrophic consequences for the monumental park's ecological and biodiversity. The man is also accused of trespassing on state-owned property and unauthorized management of agricultural waste.
