A historic turning point awaits the next Serie A season: the match between AC Milan and Como, valid for matchday 26 (the fifth round of the second half of the season), will be played in Perth, Australia, during the weekend of February 7-8, 2026. The Federal Council met in Rome Tuesday morning and approved the request submitted by the Lega Serie A. The match is expected to take place at Optus Stadium, a 60,000-seat venue that is commonly used for Australian rules football, rugby, and cricket. The Western Australian government has already confirmed the venue's availability on that day, clearing the door for this extraordinary event. A few formal processes remain, including official authorizations from the Australian Football Federation, UEFA, the AFC, and FIFA. This should be straightforward, but final permission from all relevant bodies is still required. If confirmed, it will be the first major European league match to be played outside of Europe.
