A large fire broke out in the Su Trambuccone area, near the Sassari-Olbia highway, resulting in a partial closure of the airspace over Olbia today. The wind-driven and difficult-to-control flames advanced inland, but had no direct impact on Costa Smeralda airport operations, which remained regularly open. According to Geasar, the airport's management corporation, the emergency had the greatest impact on the approach routes that landing aircraft use. As a result, numerous arriving flights were temporarily redirected to alternative airports, including Cagliari, Alghero, and Rome. Despite the dangerous circumstances, many aircraft were still able to take off after the fire started. Within a few hours, as the situation improved, the airspace was entirely reopened, and operations resumed normally.
