In London, Christie's sold for £1.12 million one of just seven known complete copies of Galileo Galilei's 'Dialogo in perpuosito de la stella nuova', signed under a pseudonym. This is a new world auction record for a work by the renowned Tuscan scientist. The "Dialogo," published in 1605 under the pseudonym Cecco di Ronchitti da Bruzene, is often regarded as Galileo's first book, and it is significant not just for its content but also for its revolutionary approach to scientific dissemination. The book is presented as a conversation in Paduan dialect between two peasants, Matteo and Natale, about the advent of the supernova in 1604. A rare astronomical event also observed by Johannes Kepler, who drew inspiration from it for his famous 'De Stella Nova' (1606).
