The Ministry of Economy has made known what choices were expressed by Italian taxpayers for the 8x1000, the tax mechanism that allows people to allocate a portion of their Irpef to religious entities or the state for social and cultural purposes. The first choice of Italians is always the Catholic Church, which with 70% of preferences will collect more than 1 billion euros. In second place is the State with 25% of the choices to which nearly 400 million euros will be allocated, followed by the Evangelical Waldensian Church with 44.5 million (2.94%) and the Italian Buddhist Union, which collected 16.5 million (1.11%). Among the choices indicated in favor of the State, the highest preferences went to school construction, selected by more than 1.2 million taxpayers, while about 400,000 people signed up for the fight against world hunger. This was followed by refugee assistance, natural disasters and cultural heritage, areas each collecting hundreds of thousands of signatures. Also notable is the focus on cultural goods and the fight against pathological addictions.
