In 2025, 77% of Italians report using AI-based tools, up from 69% in 2024. However, only 7% claim to have in-depth knowledge of the issue, a figure that remains steady from the previous year. This data comes from the 5th Ital Communications–IISFA Report, conducted by the Piepoli Institute and presented in the Senate, which examines the connection between citizens and AI. Optimism is increasing: 21% are highly optimistic in future AI breakthroughs (up from 16% in 2024), and 61% rely on generative AI (55% the previous year). Interest in enhancing one's talents is increasing (81%), but just 27% feel compelled to do so. 67% are concerned about cybersecurity dangers, while only 10% are confident in their ability to identify them. Privacy, data protection, regulation, and ethics are believed to be the most critical areas.
