A dramatic accident has cut short the life of Felix Baumgartner, the famous Austrian skydiver known for his feats on the edge of the impossible. The man, 56, had jumped with a paraglider but, during the flight, was seized by a sudden illness. He lost control of the craft and crashed, ending up in the swimming pool of an accommodation facility overlooking the Adriatic coast. A girl who was on the scene was also involved in the impact: she suffered some injuries but, fortunately, is not in life-threatening danger. Baumgartner had achieved world fame in 2012 when he jumped from the stratosphere from a height of more than 39 kilometers, breaking three world records and marking a milestone in the history of skydiving and extreme feats. Authorities are reconstructing the exact dynamics of the incident, but everything points to a sudden illness as the cause of the tragedy.
