Barattolino Sammontana has landed in the US. Sammontana Italia has launched a brand of real Italian gelato with a format specifically designed for the American market, capitalizing on the recent acquisition of La Rocca Creative Cakes. Customers will be able to choose from a variety of flavors, including chocolate, pistachio, black cherry and vanilla, hazelnut, almond brittle and salted caramel. A food service line is also available. Unlike other "Italian-sounding" businesses, Sammontana offers a product entirely made in Italy. Sammontana—established in 1946 in Empoli, Tuscany—has a close connection to the United States. In the 1970s, Milton Glaser, the creator of the "I Love NY" symbol, was entrusted with the creation of the brand's identity. In the initial phase of the American début, the focus is on New York City, starting with a summer program at Eataly Flatiron, featuring a kiosk and outdoor space dedicated to gelato. Then there's a collaboration with the Madison Square Park Conservancy, which includes bright, unique umbrellas and pop-up tastings related to events like Carnegie Hall's summer concert season. Several hundred thousand Barattolini are projected to enter the United States within the first six months.
