In Portofino, the pearl of Liguria, a mayor's ordinance went into effect on Tuesday, July 15, which, until September 30, 2025, bans bivouacking and begging, and fines beggars as well as people walking around the town in bathing suits and bare-chested or barefoot. There are fines of up to 500 euros for violators. Lying on the ground, on benches and low walls, or sitting on the ground in streets, under arcades, in squares and gardens and other public spaces is also prohibited. Also prohibited throughout the city center and port area is the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages of any strength (spirits and hard liquor); only bar drinks are allowed. The final prohibition concerns music, which may be played only by 12:30 a.m.
