Some 70% Italians feel uncomfortable at the idea of uncovering themselves, or putting on a bathing suit, with the consequence that, once at the beach, 2 out of three people do not feel comfortable. The discomfort affects men, women, teenagers - the latter with the most - as many as 80% - working out to look at themselves in the mirror with better eyes. The X-ray to summer paranoia has been detected by the Observatory “Fitness & Wellness in Italy”, carried out by the multinational fitness franchise Anytime Fitness (5,600 clubs worldwide, 57 in Italy), in collaboration with AstraRicerche. The survey notes how strongly self-image is linked to physical fitness, especially in summer, and when the desire to feel good about one's body is intertwined with the desire to show off with confidence.
