Global Finance has unveiled its list of the world's top banks for 2025, including the winner of the "World's Best Bank" title, which was revealed in advance for the first time. The winner is France's Société Générale. According to Joseph Giarraputo, founder and editorial director of Global Finance, the bank led by CEO Slawomir Krupa "has set itself apart from its competitors in the past year by virtue of its global presence, comprehensive understanding of local markets, diverse array of innovative products and services for both businesses and consumers, and leadership in sustainable finance. These attributes have enabled the bank to achieve robust growth and even greater profitability". Giarraputo recollects that "for more than three decades, banking and corporate leaders have depended on Global Finance's Best Bank Awards to identify financial partners capable of delivering the most solid products and services and comprehensive sector expertise". The winners were chosen based on their performance throughout the previous year as well as other criteria such as reputation and management excellence.
