A total of 90 Italian rural communities of excellence have been awarded “Green Spikes 2025”. This is a national program of the FEE - Foundation for Environmental Education - the organization that issues in the world the Blue Flag award for coastal resorts, designed to guide rural municipalities, step by step, to choose land management strategies in a virtuous path that benefits the environment and the quality of life of a community. Agriculture is the protagonist of this path: from sustainable practices to circular economy, from landscape protection to the enhancement of typical productions and hospitality. Green Spikes 2025 have been awarded in 15 regions. Among those leading the ranking is Piedmont, which gets the most awards with 18 winning municipalities. On the other hand, there were 10 award-winning localities for Calabria, 9 for Marche, and 8 for Tuscany, Umbria and Puglia.
