"The enhancement of cinema, both as a means of artistic and communicative expression and as an industrial and production chain to be safeguarded, is one of the firm points on the agenda of this government, and of the ministry I represent. For this reason, since I took office and in continuity with the work of the previous minister, caring for the proper use of Italians' money has been, and remains, an essential and priority concern. Let me be clear: for some people, denouncing rot and malfeasance is incompatible with the enhancement of our cinema. I think it is exactly the opposite. It is not only a matter of justice, it is the best way to respect and help those who make cinema with commitment, passion, talent, and fairness". Thus the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, in his briefing yesterday in the Senate on the situation of Italian cinema. “Public support for the sector," the minister claimed, "has grown exponentially, from about 250 million euros in 2016 to 746 million in 2023, with an endowment for 2024 of 696 million, a value confirmed for 2025 as well, without any cuts. A growth in the economic endowment of 180 percent". “In conclusion we can say that for the world of cinema a new phase has opened,” the minister says, "A phase marked by rigor, merit, attention to public money and the promotion of authentic cinema”.
