"How much we need peace in this time torn by hostility and wars. And how much the greeting of the Risen One calls us to witness today: ‘Peace be with you’". Pope Leo XIV said this yesterday as he met in St. Peter's Basilica with digital influencers and missionaries on the occasion of their Jubilee. "Peace be with us. In our hearts and in our actions,“ he continued, ”this is the mission of the Church: to announce peace to the world. The peace that comes from the Lord, who has conquered death, who brings us God's forgiveness, who gives us the Father's life, who shows us the way of Love". And it is also the mission that the Church today "entrusts also to you, who are here in Rome for your Jubilee, come to renew your commitment to nourish social networks and digital environments with Christian hope. Peace needs to be sought, proclaimed, shared everywhere, whether in the dramatic places of war or in the emptied hearts of those who have lost the sense of existence and the taste for interiority, for spiritual life. And today, perhaps more than ever, we need missionary disciples who bring the gift of the Risen Lord to the world, who give voice to the hope that Jesus gives us". For the Pope, we need to “build networks of relationships, networks of love, networks of free exchange, where friendship is deep”. Networks where we can “repair what has been broken, where we can remedy loneliness, regardless of the number of followers, but living in every encounter the infinite greatness of Love”. Networks are needed, the Pope says, "that open space for the other, rather than for oneself, where no ‘filter bubble’ can extinguish the voice of the weakest. Networks that liberate, that save. Networks that make us rediscover the beauty of looking into each other's eyes. Networks of truth. In this way, every story of shared good will be the node of a single and immense network: the network of networks, the network of God". Hence the invitation to focus “on Christ, to overcome the logic of the world, of fake news and superficiality, with the beauty and light of truth”.
