They called it the most advanced technological setup in Italy. The Tor Vergata area that will host the final events of the Youth Jubilee on August 2 and 3 is ready. In the “City of Sports”, in the shadow of Calatrava's Sails, the Civil Defense field village has been inaugurated. An expanse of three hectares, out of a total of 52, in which 40 air-conditioned tensile structures have been planted with operational rooms and beds inside, about sixty modules for bathrooms and personal hygiene, and where vehicles and 13 ambulances are already moving (many will be operational along the access routes). There are as many as five field kitchens (one only dedicated to handling allergens and another for preparing take-out meals), and 300 parking stalls have been created. Four thousand volunteers dedicated to safety, health, and the smooth running of the Vigil and Pope Leo XIV's closing Mass will live, eat, and sleep in the village for 72 hours. They are the men of the Civil Defense, the Police Force, 118 and Red Cross personnel, firefighters, stewards and other agencies and institutions to whom about five thousand meals a day will be served thanks to the chefs of the Italian Federation of Chefs who will prepare dishes with zero-mile raw materials thanks to an agreement with Coldiretti. Here the FIC's Solidarity and Emergencies Department has fielded 55 men who will take turns to be able to feed all the volunteers. There are as many as 26 advanced medical stations that can treat a wide range of ailments: from sunstroke and hypotension to cardiac arrest and anaphylactic shock. A medical helicopter is also provided. At the entrance is the “brain” tent: the AOC, that is, the Advanced Operations Center where Civil Defense together with engineers and cyber experts have set up a control room. A set-up of exceptional proportions, worthy of the Jubilee Method, as the special synergy between public agencies that characterized the organization of this world event was dubbed.
