Antonio Tajani, the Foreign Minister who is also responsible for International Trade, provided his perspective on the ISTAT export data that was released yesterday. He stated, "In the first half of 2025, Italian exports to non-EU countries recorded a 1.3% growth, rising to 2% when excluding energy. This demonstrates the robustness of national exports in a dynamic international context. The trade balance is positive, at €24.4 billion. The export trend urges us to stick to our Export Plan approach of diversifying the outlet markets for our products". "We are utilizing all available resources to provide assistance to companies operating overseas", he declared. "We must strengthen the Export Plan in all markets where there is potential for Italy. In recent months, we have conducted missions with companies in high-growth countries such as Brazil, India, and Mexico. We must persist in our efforts to expand our participation in significant international trade fairs and the pursuit of new customers, which are overseen by the ITA Agency. We are interested in introducing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to the new subsidized finance funds that are administered by Simest. We also intend to expand SACE's "Push Strategy," which has shown to be extremely effective in establishing new markets and acquiring new worldwide consumers for our enterprises". Compared to the same month in 2024, exports to non-EU markets have increased by 4.7%. This is notably significant when comparing year-over-year. This trend is led by non-durable consumer goods (+9.9%) and intermediate products (+5.8%). Performance in important European markets such as Switzerland (+18.4%) and the United Kingdom (+8.1%) was outstanding. Exports to the United States likewise showed a significant increase (+10.3%).
