Bain & Company Europe Consumer Lab conducted a survey to assess the mood of Europeans. The outcome is a continent that is emotionally divided. According to the survey, which polled 9,000 consumers across Europe, including 1,500 in Italy, Europeans' mood is consistent, although there are substantial discrepancies between generations, income levels, and regions. The average emotional well-being figure has decreased slightly in comparison to the previous year. However, younger generations (Gen Z and Millennials) and high-income citizens show symptoms of improvement. The stress indicator is the one showing the biggest fluctuations. In Europe, almost one-third of the population feels stressed, but Italy has the biggest emotional pressure: with a net stress level of 9%, it ranks first, followed by Poland. On the other end of the scale, Germany is the most relaxed. But it’s not all bad news: Italy is also the country where the highest number of citizens actively work on their well-being, says Marco Caldarelli, Senior Partner at Bain & Company.
