Soccer is becoming an increasingly expensive spectacle. Season ticket costs have risen by 7% in just a few months, despite an average 2% increase in inflation since 2024 and an estimated 3.5% increase in wages. The Calcio e Finanza portal has estimated that prices have increased by 50% in comparison to the 2019/2020 season. The cost has escalated to the point where Juventus is now accepting payment in three installments, with small increments of roughly 5% and minimum prices remaining unchanged for those who renew. A Serie A curve-end season ticket for next season will average €288.75, with substantially higher costs for top-tier clubs and other areas of the stadium. In contrast to the prevailing trend, Como has not only refrained from raising prices for organized fans, but it also intends to make them free within the next three years. President Mirwan Sumarso stated that he examined the case of Fortuna Düsseldorf, a German club, and concluded that "by introducing new VIP lounges and expanding the package for companies, we will be able to reduce prices in the most popular areas". Carolina Morace, a former footballer, coach, and Five Star Movement MEP, held an event in Brussels to address excessive stadium prices: "In Europe, soccer is getting too expensive to watch, both live and on TV. The average family cannot afford it. This is how passion fades".
