The Middle East conflict has reached day 670 and Italy's efforts on the humanitarian front continue. The Farnesina announced the departure of a new Food for Gaza program convoy headed to the Strip with 20 truckloads of food aid. The World Food Program vehicles carry more than 350 tons of flour purchased with Italian funds. A second convoy is scheduled for next week. Reiterating Italy's support for the crisis-stricken civilian population, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani reaffirmed the government's position, “Italy is against any Israeli settlement in the West Bank, because it would undermine the foundations of the project of two peoples and two states”.
