A drug delivery service using drones has been inaugurated in Abruzzo. The service was inaugurated in the municipality of Collelongo, in the province of L'Aquila, with the symbolic delivery of some medicines from the hospital in Avezzano to the town's pharmacy, carried out via an unmanned aircraft. During the testing phase, the drones made numerous deliveries in full compliance with safety and privacy regulations, with the cooperation of local pharmacies. The goal is to improve accessibility to hospital drugs, especially in the countryside and hard-to-reach countries. Promoted by Telespazio, a joint venture between Leonardo (67%) and Thales (33%), the initiative was carried out in collaboration with the hospitals of L'Aquila and Avezzano - and with the involvement of the municipalities of Collelongo, Montereale and Rocca di Mezzo, located within the Sirente Velino Regional Park.
