Italians' discontent with Brussels is getting worse by the month. Initially focused on green deals and rearmament, now increasingly on agricultural policies, carbon tax and the various EU budget support measures, perceived as punitive and detrimental to national sovereignty. Out of more than 9.5 million pieces of social content surveyed by Socialcom , 75% express a negative stance toward Europe, generating more than 250 million interactions. The moments of greatest tension coincide with the launch of the ReArmUE plan, the inauguration of Donald Trump (Giorgia Meloni was the only EU leader present), and the debate over the European budget, rekindled by the possibility of new taxes. Discontent extends to large parts of the European agenda. Foreign policy issues (negative sentiment for 91% of content) are followed by immigration (87%), tariffs (83%), bureaucracy (78%) and agriculture (70%). Green policies, while very present in institutional channels (548 thousand posts), struggle to generate engagement: they garner fewer interactions than immigration, duties and taxes.
