Manufacturing may be in crisis, but Italy’s leisure and entertainment industry has never been stronger. In Italy, there are 41,451 companies that operate in a variety of sectors, including outdoor experiences, nightlife, major events, and local attractions. Excluding gaming, revenues exceed 4 billion euros (with online gaming and betting included, the figure surpasses 70 billion). The most widespread are businesses tied to entertainment and leisure (from traditional amusement rides to party services and more innovative activities such as escape rooms, laser tag, airsoft, and paintball), which with 9,068 companies (21.9% of the total) top the national ranking. Sports and event organizations come in second with 7,944 companies (19.2%), demonstrating the importance of organized sport in the country's social and tourism life, followed by beach resort management with 7,352 businesses (17.7%), a true staple of the Italian summer along the coasts. Just below the podium are fitness facilities (5,771 businesses, 13.9%), which address the growing demand for wellness and fitness, and discos and dance halls (3,236 businesses, 7.8%), which continue to play an important role in nighttime, urban and tourist entertainment. The management of entertainment facilities (game arcades, etc.) also contributes significantly, accounting for 3,984 businesses (9.6% of the total entertainment offering). Leading the way are Lombardy (5,599 enterprises), Lazio (4,240), and Campania (4,076).
