In the Brescia parish of Sant'Angela Merici, work on a system with 900 solar panels, generating 129 kW, will begin soon. The goal is ambitious: connect an important portion of Lombardy's 472 parishes to the grid. This effort mirrors Pope Francis' encyclical "Laudato Si'", which calls for strong and immediate action to protect the globe from an environmental decline that threatens its very survival. The energy community initiative is also available to families and individuals. Brescia is among the first dioceses in the country to begin this type of project. Over 95% of the energy generated by the solar panels will be shared, creating a financial return that, after expenses, will be directed toward social programs.
