It was allegedly the escape of a parrot that triggered the argument that resulted in the killing Monday night of police inspector Ciro Luongo, 58, who was stabbed in the heart by his partner's son. The perpetrator, Roberto Marchese, 21, was detained after fleeing and questioned at length at police headquarters as part of the investigation coordinated by the North Naples Prosecutor's Office. According to the reconstruction of investigators, the victim allegedly reprimanded the young man for not closing the French door of the room, from which the animal had managed to escape. From there the argument quickly degenerated into insults and threats, until the fatal attack with a kitchen knife of about 30 centimeters. Decisive was the testimony of Luongo's son, who witnessed the scene and confirmed longstanding family tensions between the policeman and his stepson.
