Hundreds of people gathered at the Peace Park in San Giuliano Terme, in the province of Pisa, to pay their final respects to Marah Abu Zuhri, a 20-year-old Palestinian woman from Gaza suffering from malnutrition who arrived in Italy through a medical airlift on August 14th and died the next day at Cisanello Hospital in Pisa. A Palestinian flag, a black and white keffiyeh, and several flowers donated by locals were placed on her coffin. The burial was attended by local authorities, Muslim community representatives, and the girl's mother, whose comments during the service struck a profound chord: "I thank you for your closeness, and I leave you a part of my heart. Marah will remain here forever. I've decided to return to Gaza, if they allow it, to be with my other children and my husband". COGAT, the Israeli organization in charge of everything entering the Strip, including food, issued a medical document indicating the girl had leukemia. Pisa's hospital denied this allegation. Sara Galimberti, director of the hematology department, emphasized that the young woman came to Italy in a situation of extreme physical emaciation, weighing only 35 kilos, and that testing revealed no signs of leukemia.
